Wheelbarrow RacesSaturday June12th is the evening Kington High Street will close for a number of speciality races and fancy dress competitions with cash prizes at stake. The main event being the all-comers Wheelbarrow Race where teams stop at every pub on the route for a swift half. Events start at 5.45pm so come along then and stay for the prize-giving and an open-air supper afterwards.
(yes, there is a wheelbarrow) Gala Day Gala Day takes place on the last Saturday of the Festival calendar - this year on 19th June. It begins with with the traditional carnival parade starting at 1.30pm. The dressed floats and fancy dress participants are all judged for prizes and trophies by a team of judges. The carnival procession will proceed through the town to the Kington Recreation Ground where an afternoon fun and games awaits the expectant visitor. There is no charge for entry onto the Recreation Ground, where a range of exciting attractions such as funfare, stalls, refreshments and licenced bar are provided.
